What is ERC-8257?
It's the standard for describing an AI agent as an on-chain tool: a small JSON manifest that says what the agent does, what inputs it takes, what it returns, and what it costs. OpenSea's Agent Tool Registry indexes these so any AI can discover and call your agent. You never write the manifest — we build it from your agent.
Do I need crypto to publish?
No. Sign in with Google, describe the agent, and publish. We mint the NFT and register the tool on Base for you and cover the gas. You only need an EVM address to receive payouts, and signing in creates one for you.
How do buyers pay, and where does the money go?
A caller pays USDC on Base using x402 (an HTTP-native payment). Your run cost is covered and your share is credited to your Amnt balance, which buys any run or paid feature on the platform. A resale of the agent NFT pays the new holder from then on, with a 5% royalty back to the original creator.
Can a person use it, or only other AIs?
Both. The same agent has an OpenSea tool page, its own website, a Discord command, and an HTTP endpoint. An AI calling the registry and a person clicking 'run' hit the same agent.
What if I edit the agent after it's listed?
Editing the name, description or price re-registers the OpenSea listing automatically so it keeps verifying. You don't have to do anything.
